801.

We need shopping in our area, like chapters, walmart, home depot, computer stores.

802.

What about Walmart and Chapters? We already have winners/homesense and Reitmans at Meadowtown.

803.

I would definately support increased shopping such as your proposal to Maple Ridge.

804.

No Brainer YES YES YES we are so do for a new shopping center in Maple Ridge. I hope it will happen

805.

Great! Yes we would love to see shopping and services developed in the Albion area.

806.

Putting in a new shopping center is a wonderful idea! A Wal-Mart would be good. Tim Horton's is welcome. More clothing shops is necessary. Costco, maybe?

807.

It's a nice idea but Maple Ridge can't support this kind of retail. You have some MR'ers saying they want a Walmart etc and that might work for a while but what about the filler stores. Maple Ridge just doesn't support chain retailers in that type of setting. For example, on any given tuesday afternoon, go through the mall in Pitt Meadows. The retailers between the Signature Liquor Store and Winners are virtually empty. Oops, where did A&B Sound go? I am not a fan of box retailers I feel they have trained families to shop beyond their means. Consumers have been brainwashed by ideas like....."Buy it today, it may not be here tomorrow" or "This is such a good deal I can't afford not to buy it - (even though I don't need it)" A mom or dad goes to a store to buy milk and leaves with a $200 receipt of items they don't need! But that is just my opinion! Best wished and good luck filling the stores.

808.

We would like to see Future Shop, Starbucks, Ikea, Walmart, Superstore, Sleep Country

809.

Maple Ridge desperately needs this kind of development so that we residents can stop spending our household money in other neighbouring communities which does not benefit Maple Ridge at all. I've lived here with my Family for almost 9 years and have almost always left Maple Ridge to shop for the things we've needed. If this type of shopping centre with stores like Home Sense, Winners, Walmart, Pier 1, Reitman's, Home Depot or Urban Barn, a Dental Office, hair salon, Starbucks or Tim Horton's was in Maple Ridge I would be shopping there instead of Pitt Meadows, Coquitlam or Pacific Centre.

810.

We would love to have shopping close to home!!! We just went out today to Coquitlam Centre and Langley and yesterday to Port Coquitlam. It is horrible having to drive all over the Lower Mainland to buy household goods. Zeller's just doesn't cut it.

811.

I am not opposed to the shopping centre coming to albion flats. However, I am opposed to large hideous big box looking stores with no creativity involved.  We should make the shopping centre look like it fits in with the rest of it's surrounding. If at all

812.

we need the commercial growth to catch up to the residential growth. The commercial tax base should not be going to other municipalities. Tired of commuting to shop!!!

813.

Would like to reduce my carbon footprint - but cannot do that when I have to leave the city to shop.  Would like to see stores such as big box or outlet:  Walmart, Sears, Mikasa.  Revy to move to a larger location so that they have more selection - or Home Depot come in.  It would be great to ave a Costco on this side of the Bridge.  Also, perhaps large chain restaurants such as Milestones or Earls.

814.

I want some better teens stores to buy clothes instead of going to Coquitlam center and taking the bus there. The stores I would want to shop at like the garage, stitches, West 49, and Walmart because the closes one that people could drive to is Abborford or Surrey. People are talking about going green, if there was one in Maple Ridge it would only take a 5 mins drive. When you bus all the way to Coquitlam center it takes an hour and a half to bus there. It is not worth to bus there to go to my favourite stores to shop. A body shop would be nice too. I want some of the stores that others community's have and Maple Ridge don't have. I hope that Maple Ridge gets a shopping center it would be about time that we get one. I don't want one when I am 50.

815.

would very much like to see, toys r us, old navy, coast mountian sports stores that i would have to go to coquitlam or langley for.

816.

Is this shopping centre a "for sure thing"?

817.

Please keep the Albion flats green!! There are surely better locations to build new shopping areas such as in a revitalized downtown Haney Core. And if this comes to pass against any common sense, why not build a proper, covered mall with underground parking to save space. Anything along the lines of the meadow ridge shopping area would be disaster. You need the car to go from one store to another!!! And please, no Walmart!!!!!!!!!!!!

818.

A new shopping mall is badly needed in Albion area with all the new growth. I live on the eastside of Maple Ridge and routinely drive to Pitt Meadows or Port Coquitlam for shopping.

819.

I personally would like to see more shopping in MR..So many people tell me how they are looking forward to the bridge and being able to shop in Langley for the better stores. Lets keep those dollars here in Maple Ridge.

820.

I would love to see a Cactus Club or Milestones. More shopping for teens like The Garage,Claires, LeChateau, Jacob, Holister, American Eagle, Aeropostal, Aldo . A LaSenza, Aqua and La vie En Rose would be great too. Winners and Reitmans are already pretty close in Pitt Meadows. I've been to Granview and I think it's going to be great, if they can sell the condos(the population density they need) The shop selection is pretty good. You could add a link to facebook or start a facebook group and promote this site better. Are you interested in hearing from our teenagers from SRT or just us Adults? It would be a great place for the kids to work.

821.

Maple Ridge should be accomodating these Retailers in our District rather than Pitt Meadows getting it all. We REALLY need a WalMart.

822.

Yes we really need a shopping mall in maple ridge (West 49)American Eagle)(Hollister)(sports shops)

823.

Wonderful idea. We need more selection in our community. Haney Place Mall and the Valley Fair Mall, do not offer enough.

824.

It is about time a mall comes to this town. You have my full support

825.

We would love to have a shopping centre here.

826.

We would love to have shopping close to home!!! We just went out today to Coquitlam Centre and Langley and yesterday to Port Coquitlam. It is horrible having to drive all over the Lower Mainland to buy household goods. Zeller's just doesn't cut it. We fer

827.

I would, as well as many of our friends, want to see some good restaurants out here! Like Catcus Club, Milestones, Earls, Me and Ed's Pizza......Maple Ridge has very little in the way of good food!!

828.

I would love to have a Wal-Mart in Albion. We have six children and the youngest is now 20. For years we have had to shop in Coquitlam, Surrey, Langley to meet the needs of the toddler and teen years as there is no varitey in Maple Ridge. Zellers needs competition so a WalMart will do just fine. As far as Home Depot we have one in both Port Coquitlam and Abbotsford. I think our Local Haney Builders and Rona have served the community well and should not have their businesses impeded on. As far as shopping local, we would if we had the same choices as progressive communities. We do not all have the time to drive to another community everytime we need to do some shopping. Recently I ran into a woman in Zellers looking for a pair of boots for her son. She could not find any in Zellers at the time and asked if i knew of anywhere else in Maple Ridge to buy boots for her young son. As it was in the evening there was no where else in Maple Ridge. So this is why i would welcome WalMart.

829.

A Future Shop would be nice as well as our local stores who carry appliances and electronics do not carry much as they do not have the store space. More choices would be appreciated and again not leaving town to shop would be even better. Less pollution in the air as I would not have to travel as far.

830.

More choices would be appreciated and again not leaving town to shop would be even better. Less pollution in the air as I would not have to travel as far.

831.

I would not like to see Wal-Mart in our new shopping centre. We already have Zellers. I would like to see Sears or The Bay. Something worth shopping at. I won't shop locally if it's Wal-Mart.

832.

I have lived in Maple Ridge now for 20 years and we have heard nothing except building a new bridge and building a decent mall with anchor stores, a Wal-Mart and others. We are finally getting two bridges after talking about it for 50 years, BUT no decent shopping. I am fed up of trying to get in and out of MR especially at this time of year to shop. The town core is all I hear about and saving the local businesses, but get real they do not have the variety nor the competitive pricing to lure and keep customers in this day and age. We need stores here so our young people can work and not have to commute (Laugh) and also for our seniors who need close shopping as well as the time, gas and inconvenience of having to leave MR and go to Coquitlam or Abbotsford. I want to keep my dollars in my own town NOT in other towns pockets. So whoever is stopping this process just give your heads a shake and give the community what it wants or our money will continue to go elsewhere!

833.

YES PLEASE! I really want a Wal-Mart here.

834.

yes I like the idea of shopping in this area. Love a HD, Wal-Mart out here!

835.

It's about bloody time already!!!!

836.

we are livig right behind the projected shopping centre. I will like to kow how the shopping mall will affect the value of my property. Can you educate me ?

837.

I would like to see a Bay or Sears

838.

Putting in a new shopping center is a wonderful idea! A Wal-Mart would be good. Tim Horton's is welcome. More clothing shops is necessary. Costco, maybe?

839.

hi im a 15 year old girl who loves to shop, so i think good stores to put in would be a garage, stiches, wal-mart, tim hortans definatly, aritzia, sirens, and more teen clothing stores

840.

I actually shop at the new shopping center in South Surrey. I must say I really like what they have done to the land. It blends in well with the surrounding housing development. Not only is the landscape pleasant to look at, even the work done on the inside of the stores are nice. The walmart does not feel like your typical walmart. Box stores have come along way, so has the east side of Maple Ridge. It would add a more modernized, clean, green, look to our city. With all the work being constructed to help us get out of Maple Ridge easier ( the two bridges) It will in turn drive more people to our city. I also think coupled with the proposed Albion shopping center, the albion ferry and river road could use a face lift. People are more into supporting there own commities, but also want to feel proud of there community.

841.

Imagine Saturday morning taking your kids to the monthly kids work shop that Home Depot puts on, then get on your bikes cross the pedistrain overpass and head towards the boardwalk on the fraser river, bike down to the Boat House Restaurant( a great place to eat by the way) for lunch. Then Bike home, quick run bike down to Home Depot again to pick up that swing set or the wood for the kids tree house, come back and start on the project. After supper and the kids settle in for the night, the girl next door who babysits for you comes over, you and your significant other walks (yes walks) down to the boardwalk, to goto a nice little restaurant on the river for a late dinner on the patio, or instead to the shopping center to the locally owned pub with some friends and have some drinks and enjoy yourself. At the end of the night, you walk(maybe stumple a bit ) home. Why because all of this is RIGHT HERE in our backyard.

842.

Please, no more residential building!! We need more shopping choices...any choices at all would be a welcome change. Maple Ridge residents leave our town to spend money in other cities. Let's keep it here and bring more jobs at the same time.

843.

I am a local area resident on Tamarack, and would love to see local shopping. With the trend on gas prices and reducing our carbon footprint I try to do as much shopping as possible in Maple Ridge, and I will continue to support the small local stores however they dont carry the things we need! I would love to see a Home Depot, or any electronics store!! Just think of the employment opportuities that would be available. There is a great daycare at Planet ice! You could drop your kids off at day care and walk across the street to work!! WOW wouldnt that be nice. Perhaps a nice restuarant, a cactus club or montanas. I love our KEG but it really needs a face lift. Bring on the MALL :)

844.

I would like to have Walmart in this site where I can have a one stop shopping.

845.

I would love to have a shopping centre just like this.... we really need one! I don't like driving all the way to Coqt. Centre.

846.

I am not opposed to the shopping centre coming to albion flats. However, I am opposed to large hideous big box looking stores with no creativity involved.  We should make the shopping centre look like it fits in with the rest of it's surrounding. If at all

847.

Wal-mart, etc would be great!

848.

we need a Walmart as the closet one is in either Abbotsford, Surrey or Coquitlam. I think Maple Ridge would benifit from Walmart

849.

Our family want have a one stop shopping cetre with leisure facilities.

850.

hello i would like to ask if u could try to please put in a Hollister and American Eagle, that would created a tun of business because there are alot of teens in the area. They are my favorite shops, and many of my friends agree. so please think about it! thank u!

851.

I'd love to see this as mostly a retail centre, with perhaps a small amount of service offices included (dental, physician, etc). Maple Ridge desperately needs a new shopping centre, but too much office/ residential/ business-park useage of this centre would diminish the retail draw, which is critical to this area that has so little shopping.

852.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a Wal-Mart in Maple Ridge/ Pitt Meadows area!

853.

This is a great idea. I'm sick of having to drive to Coquitlam Centre for certain stores that don't exist out this way. This will Create more jobs, and reduce traffic over Pitt River Brigde, as well as prove a greater demand for local transit improvments which translink will have to recognise sooner or later. I definetly support this.

854.

I would love to see shopping in the Albion Flats. As a growing community, we need to keep more of our dollars in our community and not have to go to Langley or Coquitlam for our retail needs. I would really love to see a Wal-Mart go in also. Another good use of land would be to put in offices &/or retail stores on a ground level with appartments above. This would provide more housing and perhaps attract more services to our community.

855.

It's a nice idea but Maple Ridge can't support this kind of retail. You have some MR'ers saying they want a Walmart etc and that might work for a while but what about the filler stores. But that is just my opinion! Best wished and good luck filling the stores.

856.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

857.

No thank you to a shopping centre at Albion Flats. I would like to see a proposal and detailed plan for our city centre on 224th Street and surrounding blocks. Why not build there as it sorely needs revamping. I would like to see shops that are also affordable to our local businesses. We do not need a Winners or Homesense as they are just West of the town centre on the border of PM and MR (pretty much). Why on earth duplicate?? Lets support local businesses instead of adding to their demise. A shopping centre at Albion would put the final nail in our town centre's delicate business infrastructure. I have lived here since September of 1988.

858.

We would like to see Future Shop, Starbucks, Ikea, Walmart, Superstore, Sleep Country

859.

We do not need any more shopping malls and strip mall or big box stores in Maple Ridge. We need to upgrade, intensify and vitalize our down town core instead. We definitely DO NOT WANT a WallMart!

860.

My suggestion would be to build stores like you mentioned and Wal-Mart so we can keep the money that is currently being spent by Maple Ridge residents in gas to go to Coquitlam and Abbotsford, not to mention the cash being left in Coquitlam and Abbotsford, just because we do not have many good stores here. I do not feel I have the same choices in Maple Ridge that I find in the other places so, my money goes to the other places instead of staying in Maple Ridge. How about Army and Navy? We can get the coquitlam business as the nearest one is Langley. Time to take the heads out of the sand and look around...Maple Ridge IS growing and the needs are changing. We are becoming a larger town with larger needs. WE have to change with the times or else Maple Ridge the town will miss out.

861.

we need the commercial growth to catch up to the residential growth. The commercial tax base should not be going to other municipalities.Tired of commuting to shop!!!

862.

I think this is great. Maple Ridge is a bottle neck to get in and out of and our shopping is extremely limited, not to mention parking and product selection. It's about time this happens. It would be nice to see an area designed to a Farmers market... for fresh bakery, butcher shop, vegetables etc a mini seciton of Granville Island then we would have it all in one area, great shopping and get some nice fresh groceries done at the same time All of it, commercial and offices all work on Granville Island. Keep the residential out>> keep this part of town more organized like Langley, they have residential, they have townhouse apt areas, and a great shopping area in the core

863.

I would really like to see a Wallmart in the Albion flats as well as all the one's who are interested. A good mens clothing store and a good shoe store

864.

Bring it on!!! I have been waiting for a long time for shopping locally and please, please some decent restaurants, very tired of fast food!!!!!! We have lived here now for 4 years and have been thinking of moving only because there are no resources, nothing here and we are tired of having to drive to other cities just to shop and have a decent dinner out.

865.

What Maple Ridge needs most is a Walmart and a Home Depot. With all the new homes continuing to be built and more and more young families moving in the area they need to have a store which is a 1 stop shopping with prices they can afford, This also includes seniors living on limited $ for pensions. A Walmart and Home Depot store will also provide many jobs in the community. Don't be giving everything away to Pitt Meadows. I would rather my dollars stay in the community I live.

866.

This is a great idea which has been long overdue. Additionally, more restaurants, RC Superstore, optomotrist, dentist, and a bowling alley would be great at Albion Flats. Perhaps even a local cinema or other entertainment.

867.

Please get us a Walmart, we already have Winners and Homesense and Reitmans in ridge meadows. We need a Walmart badly.

868.

I would like to see more stores for the teens and young adults such as American Eagle, Aritzia, La Senza, Arrapostal, Urban Behaviour, Stitches, Garage, J14. We already have winners and Retimens (2) within our community and it would be nice to shop locally other than having to either drive to Abbotsford, Mission or Coquitlam for the variety that the young adults are looking for. Best Buy or Future Shop would also be nice.

869.

I would like to have a mall like that in our area

870.

it would be great to have more of an option to the shopping in maple ridge, i would like to see a walmart as well. more housing and yes maybe some office space as well... long over due. thank you

871.

872.

hello. i am interested in getting a new shopping center, but i am not excited to visit because of the shops you are putting in. I am 14 and i know i wont be shopping at wal-mart or home depot any time soon, so i was wondering if you are going to put in any good shops like American eagle? that way everyone can shop where they like, because this mall dosn't seen like a place with kids can hang out and shop.

873.

Costco, Home Depot, Walmart, Superstore, Winners, Shoppers Drug Mart, Movie Theatre

874.

I would like to see a place that is interesting. Like having a Capers, Specialty liquor store, clothing stores, home decor stores, coffee shops, Specialty Home Depot store etc.. I live close by and am tired of driving out of Maple Ridge for EVERYTHING.

875.

Some stores we would enjoy would be; Sirens; Stiches, Guess, and Off the Wall.

876.

We would like to have in Maple Ridge: Wal-Mart Staples Book Store (any) Grocery Store (any) Building Stores ( Haney Builders, Home Depot, etc.)

877.

878.

I'm not interested in seeing more offices in the area but it would be fantastic to have some of the retailers listed above in the area along with a Walmart! Residential use would be fine too. Since this area is growing as a large residential community, stores that serve the needs of the nearby families would be nice. Lastly, I personally would love a fitness center close by!

879.

We NEED this type of shopping in Maple Ridge and especially a WalMart store. Pitt Meadows will certainly get it if we don't. What a shame to be so close minded in this District !

880.

I would love to see a shopping center in the flats, but please find other stores. we have a winners, reitmens. NO Starbucks!!  Canadian tire. Bring in store we don't have. Children's clothing toys, women's clothing RW&Co Good Shoe Store ETc. Italian bakery/coffee. Bring in different stores please!!

881.

Just build it and they will come. Thank you for trying to bring this to Mapleridge it about time we had some big stores like Home Depot and the others you mentioned.

882.

Our family wants to shop closer to home. In order to do our shopping we currently have to travel to Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows and Langley. We would like to see something like Walmart, Home Depot, Winners, Homesense, Costco, Toysrus, a large food store, a large bookstore, a large petstore and other retail outlets that carry mens, womens and childrens clothing.

883.

I would love to see a shopping center in our neighbourhood!

884.

I stongly agree that we need shopping, restaurants, etc in the area. I work, shop, and do everything out of the area even though I own a home here. I have been a resident for over 20 years and we definately need to start progressing!

885.

It LONG overdue!!

886.

I would like to see a Walmart, restaurants, Best Buy

887.

Dear Smart Centers I would like to disagree with the idea of developing the Albion flats. First of all, the idea of spreading the downtown core a further out does not make Maple Ridge a better place. Instead in turns our community into an urban jail, where you can't escape quickly. Many places like Surrey have spread out by adding more and more box stores. Instead I would like to encourage Smart Centers to buy land in the downtown core of Maple Ridge and build shopping centers where there is easy access to all the stores. I am not a fanatic about being green, however I do get concerned with more and more great farmland being converted into stores. This land is in a flood in the Albion is in a flood plain. Use it for agriculture. Second, I would like to encourage Smart Centers to build parking lots that have a better flow. Too often to get to from one side of the parking lot to another, the "parking lot roads" are put in front of the stores. why not get the cars moving more efficiently by getting them away from store fronts so cars and pedestrians won't mix.

888.

Should there be intersections within a parking lot, add some roundabouts, like the rest of the world. It is sad when a person spends more time commuting in a parking lot than on the roads. I would like to see more shopping in Maple Ridge, but the way Smart Centers develops, no thank-you. Please actually be smart and develop truly smart centers. I think you could do better in getting consumers access to buildings you build. Feel free to call if you need any more clarification on things noted.

889.

Our family would like to be able to shop at stores such as Future Shop, Sears, London Drugs, Shoe Warehouse, Mark's, BCL, popular clothing stores, without having to drive over a bridge or from mall to mall as we now have to in M.R. Outlet stores are always a plus. Parking is an issue in this town and not only enough spaces, but big enough spaces for the large number of trucks in the area. A theatre, some restauants, coffee places, produce stores would be welcome. Maybe even a gas station. A clinic would be welcome since there isn't one in Albion. Because of our wet climate, it would be nice if there's a covered walk way so you don't feel that you have to lug an umbrella into stores or drive from one end to the other just to keep dry. We would welcome shopping in Albion if it actually suits the needs of local people.

890.

I would like to see a shopping center at Albion Flats. I would like to see a Safeway, Bestbuy, Home Depot and a Walmart. There is no real places in Maple Ridge to shop that has any selection. Maple Ridge better take advantage of this opportunity before more peolpe go to langley to shop when the Golden Ears bridge opens.

891.

Mall is a great idea! open or closed architecture. would be great if you can maintain the outdoor theme somehow and make it an environmentally friendly design (i.e. re-usable energy, landscaping, etc). recreation centre or small library or anything for children would be nice.

892.

Yes, Yes, Yes, do it..build it they will come....I WILL TOO!! How about a Timmy's or Starbucks. I will never move from my home then ...they will have to drag me out not breathing if you put that mall down here!

893.

I support the idea for additional shopping in Maple Ridge. Though I think it should begin with maximizing locations within the downtown core (that dilapidated mall @ 22255 Dewdney Trunk Road (I'm sorry - we do NOT need a Liquidation World junk store) and the huge empty lot across from the London Drugs mall (Valley Fair Mall). Those are ideal locations for mini versions of what you are proposing and would each support one of the big box (OK medium box) stores and a series of smaller ones. Only then should the Albion Flats be considered. If that is done - then yes - I would like to see it all done. With the new mall in Pitt Meadows I don't believe another HomeSense or Pier 1 (or anything else that is there) is a requirement. The things we currently have to drive the furthest for would be: Chapters, Future Shop, Home Depot, Walmart (lowest on my list), Urban Barn, apparently you can never have enough StarBucks (chuckle), family restaurants, Anducci's or Earls or Cactus Club (sorry I don't like Montana's or Milestone's), a new location for our wonderful Frogstone Grill would be good or a much needed new home (with parking space) for our Paliiotti's restaurant.

894.

I would not want to see industrial in the Albion flats, but a combination of retail, office, restaurants and condo/apartment style residential would be good. The most important being that it does not detract from the value or esthetics of the neighbourhood, that access is safe and easy, that sufficient parking exists. If you could include community services of some sort (a safe venue for teenagers - ie movie theatre, arcade, etc) that would be good as well. Keep us posted.

895.

I have family and friends living in the area and many of them don't drive. They have to go to Coquitlam to do any shopping, it would be nice for them if there was something closer then they could take a bus instead of depending on others giving them more freedom.

896.

Develop this space...I can't believe we allow so much money to leave this town. We need to add this shopping/business centre to increase our tax base, create more local jobs, to provide easy shopping experience, nights out locally. You cannnot provide all this in our small downtown. Where are you going to put it all? We have too many real estate agents running this town that just want to build homes and subdivisions to line their pockets. I work for another city where they put out surveys to all home owners to see what they want, I am yet to see a survey here in Maple Ridge....ooh I'm sorry it goes to the real estate agents who want houses and more houses to line their pockets. We need to build commercial and industrial now before our neighbouring towns get it. build this mall and much more. This sure isn't being utilited as farmland and hasn't for years, and instead it just sits and rots. If you want it as farm land then force it to be planted to create jobs and food for our town....otherwise please have some common-sense and build & develop a mall already!!!!!!!!

897.

i looove this idea! i think there should be some stores focused more so on the younger generations in their teens so they dont have to go out of town to find some nice stores they like to shop at. I would suggest a TNA, aritzia, hollister, aeropostale, abercrombie and fitch, forever 21, american eagle, i could go on forever but here is a few ideas.

898.

I think this is exactly what Maple Ridge need... Haney place mall is not a place where I can go to get all my shopping needs met. Would like to see this shopping center more of a mall style (ie coquitlam center/ metrotown) than strip mall. I would believe this will make a more enjoyable shopping experience all year round.

899.

I had a thought that a lot of your responses are from people of an age bracket and home owners who would like to see Home Sense, Winners, Reitmans, Home Depot etc My thought is that the responses are not well represented by high school students or college students. They would definitely like to see a Future Shop but also more attractive clothing stores like Le Chateau, Banana Republic, the Gap, Old Navy...If these aren't provided I believe a large majority of shopping will still be done out of town. So the building in the Albion in my opinion needs to be quite comprehensive and include this type of shopping as well. I am not in favour of Wallmart. Thanks for listening.

900.
